I paul bunyoned my beloved Japanese Maple

I "felled" the japanese maple that appeared dead today. It definitely was dead! I quartered the stump and am contemplating how to get the thing out of the ground to plant a garden next year. Is there a consensus? What about the stuff you put in the stump, wait about 6 week and then soak it with kerosene?

I've heard of renting 'stump grinders'. Perhaps, check with a local nursery.
