We have a shrub that I need help to identify

It has waxy oblong leaves with clusters of small reddish flowers . blooms from early spring to late fall. It had a hard winter this year and needs to be pruned back. any help with Identification would be great

Have you tried here? https://www.cnr.vt.edu/DENDRO/DENDROLOGY/idit.htm
You'd have a better chance with one of these from your own or a near-by state though....

Also, I just went to my county's Master Gardener Plant Sale. It turns out that my county's Ag. extension office is w/in 1/2 hr driving distance from my home and I could bring leaves, branches, etc. to have identified. Maybe yours is not far away either?

I had something similiar to this, but the flowers were a different color and it wasn't that tall. I always refered to it as a 'Japonica' but can't recall where or why. Hope that helps!

about a 4 hour trip is all. LOL

Found out what it is an Escallonia Rubia.
