I planted some herbs once, but I don't know if these seedlings that grew are from one of my seed packets or if they are just weeds. They look attractive enough when small but as you can see, they look pretty messy when they're bigger. Haven't flowered so I don't know if it's worth keeping for their blooms either.
Do you recognise these shrubs?

That's what I initially jumped to right away, was asparagus fern, (Asparagus densiflorus) but then Mel said that the seeds planted were for herbs, so I went with tarragon. I know that true asparagus has a much finer leaf on it. It does definitely look like asparagus fern to me too, which, by the way, is not a weed, and makes a very pretty hanging plant.
Now that I've been on both sides of the fence........

That is not an herb. It is some kind of fern - I used to play with those as a kid, because it was fun to run your fingers down the stem and have a handful of those little leaves!
They get HUGE (I've seen 8' x 8'), they prefer part sun, and grow in warmer climates. I was in South Florida (zone 10) when I saw them most, I saw a few in Central Florida (zone 9) occasionally, but never as big and they seemed a different variety.
I also seem to remember little white flowers and some brownish berries.
I'll see if I can find out what the actual name of it is.
Here we go: it IS and Asparagus fern (good job, Scott), according to this site:
https://plants.usda.gov/cgi_bin/topics.cgi?earl=plant_profile.cgi&symbol=ASDE12
They grow only in Florida, but I bet it could be a common houseplant.
Then this site has it in N. Carolina... conflicting information, anyone?

A few folks have called it invasive in frost-free regions.

It is called Asparagus densiflorus, and you're right Grey, it does get little white flowers and then berries.
Up here, it is a common house plant, and they do get very large. Something I've seen hanging in a 2 story entry for example. They need humidity as the needles dry and fall easily.
That's about all I know about them.
