white pine needles turning brown and falling off

I have 3 white pines. 2 of the 3 have a lot of needles that are turning brown but the tip of the limbs still have green needles. Here are some pics. I planted these trees just at a year ago and have no experiance with white pines and don't know if this is normal or if its a fungus and if any action is needed or if it's just something that works it way out. Thanks for the help everyone.

That isn't nothing Unusual for this time of year. They usually drop more needles this time of year then any other. As long as the new growth from this year still has healthy needles on it you will be fine. If the new growth has light green or yellow green needles then the tree is in trouble.

Not sure why my pics aren't showing up on the thread. Thanks for looking. What does it mean if the new growth has light green or yellow green needles? I'm fairly sure it doesn't but I'll have to check tonight. I believe that the new growth was looks fine but from there back to the trunk the needles are turning brown and falling off.

I hope your Pine doesn't have what infested our Tanyosho Pine this year.

Examine the bark on the lower trunk to see if it's separating from the trunk - and if it is, take a close look at what's underneath.

Here are some pictures showing what happened -

I know around here the White pines have an issue with these little black aphids that suck the sap. It weakens them until they die unless you spray them with something to kill the aphids. Also in warmer climates they get heat stressed IE zone 7b and warmer they tend to get stressed. It could also be root problems do to poor dranage and soggy soil, most pines don't like to have wet feet.
