Jalapenos growing on tomato plant

I have a jalapeno growing off one of the vines of my tomato plants.
Has anyone ever seen this before? And if so...how did it happen?

It's another gag. If you didn't do it yourself, somebody is playing trick on you. Btw, that is the wrong side of the leafnode for a fruit to be growing from.

I didn't do it, nor did anyone else is my house. I found it like that. Attached to the tomato vine. So NO, its not a gag. Thanks for your helpful input

Yeah the stem is dried and brown so its been off the original plant a bit.

While the plants are in the same family, I don't think they actually are similar enough to actually cross. The stem is starting to shrivel on the pepper so it is a few days old. I would think a pepper growing on a tomato would be noticed before it got that big. It does not look like a natural hybrid. It does look to be staged. Even tomatoes grown on potatoes are grafted not natural.
