Bad/unusual cracking on Bison toms.

So far, these little bison tomatoes are my biggest producers besides cherry toms. But nearly all of them look like this. What are your thoughts on these and is there anything I can do about it?

Usually inconsistent water levels, as when it is dry for awhile and then you get a big rain.

Helps to water frequently to keep soil from drying out and mulch heavily, which holds moisture in the soil.

That might explain it. I try to let mother nature take care of the watering as much as possible, although I know that's not always enough. We've gotten more rain this year than the last few, but it's still pretty inconsistent. I should probably water first thing in the morning, come to think of it.

Yeah, a dry spell followed by a lot of water causes that. The plant attempts to store up as much water as possible and pumps the fruits full of water, cracking them. The same thing will crack carrots in the ground.
