I have been to Home Depot or Lowe's about 4x in the last week or so, and each time I see people buying tomato plants. This is in zone 6b. Now, we don't normally plant until about May 15th around here.

So, I wondered.... maybe they have a greenhouse. I do.

But today, I asked the guy in front of me if he had a greenhouse. And he said he didn't and was going to plant these "later this week". Yes, we have temps in the 60's, but on Sunday, the temperature is supposed to go down to 24 degrees....

Even if he were to lay plastic over them for the night, wouldn't they likely suffer severe damage?

I just got around to planting my seeds in cups today, LOL. :D

If they don't use warmbench, window frames, or any other good micro climate I wouldnt plant them before last frost thats for sure.

It's easy to get carried away after some hot spring days! Allthough fortunate years might lead to an surprisingly early harvest if that last frost doesnt come, but thats a gamble.
