Drown Tomato Plant Recovering

With all the rain we've had and a poor choice in container, my poor tomato plant grew huge, then wilted, tried to recover, then withered to a hopeless looking mess. It seemed hopeless so I tossed the plant in my compost bin. A week later I peeked in to find the plant laying on its side with healthy leaves reaching upward. So my question is... now what?! Do I try to replant it on its side since it looks like the roots are being sent out from the stem?

Sure why not? Second chance, as it were. Its getting awfully hot now but it will probably bloom and set fruits in time for fall harvest. Give it some of that compost to grow in. You may also get break in the weather.

Thank you! Should I bury the stem on its side or just rest it on the soil to send out roots?
