Congratulations on getting started! I planted my tomatoes just a couple days ahead of you and they are mostly sprouted.

You and applestar have both gone totally nuts over tomatoes! :)

Wow, Gixx! Your first wave is more plants than I will have in the garden when it's going full swing!

I saw some of the videos you posted of your garden last year. Holy smokes. :o Blown away. Good luck! Can't wait to see how it turns out this year.

Yep, I've never had more than 20 some varieties, in total!

I am curious how the Cherokee varieties do for earliness as well as their other qualities. It is "inappropriate" for someone with Cherokee ancestors to live somewhere he doesn't think they'd be early enuf to ripen! Darn Intermountain aridness and elevation!

Yes RBG I have gone nuts. I blame you and the rest of this forum for transforming me into what I have become. It's a good thing though. 8)

sepeters thanks for the kind words. I have a bunch more dwarfs to drop as well than the main garden. Most of the dwarfs I am hoping will find pots.

I just got talked into growing out another cross for a friend last night. That is why I gave up on the "LIST" it keeps changing, better to make the list as I drop them.

Here is the first of the troops about 5 1/2 -6 day's for germ. There are 3 that have not yet poked their heads. A couple of them Balkon Star and Perfekta are OLD seeds 30+ years old they will take longer, there are others growing Perfekta that are stating 11 - 19 day's for germination.

Dude!!! You are the dwarf king, Sir!!! Admire your selection indeed!

My garden plans are much different this year, the house is for sale, so I'm doing 10 garden varieties, and only dwarfs, until I now for sure if I'm going to rent or buy another house... Will see... Good luck in 2013 Dono!!!

Regards,
D

Oh man... I tell you, after looking through the "catalog" of my seeds, so many I haven't even tried yet... So, not sure how long the house will sit on the market, I changed plans a little...

11 Garden varieties, 5 dwarfs, 2 container varieties... Started seeds today, I know, so far behind than usual. Worse case, someone else would enjoy my tomatoes

I will have to write to Clara, I think of her often, but really, rarely even check email...

Regards,
D

Half the fun and enjoyment to me is the actual process of starting the garden, and indeed watch it grow, but this year I'll take what I can get... Here is my little list...

Few tried and true:

Spudakee
Sandul Moldoval
Moldoval Green
Sacharnyj Zheltyj
Bulls Heart Pink
Cleota Yellow
Noir De Crimee
Early Treat F1

Few new to me:

Verna Orange
Stump Of The World
Korol Sibiri
Rosa Vetrov

The dwarfs that I liked from the past:

Beryl Beauty
Emerald Giant
Sleeping Lady
Perth Pride

Last, but not least:

Lyubashka (F6), been stabilizing this one for sweet preserves

I actually went to the local nursery this afternoon, and picked up seedlings of Red Sails, Butter Crunch lettuce, and Kohlrabi, I know, not started those from seeds, but time really slipped...

I did plant the first wave or radishes this afternoon, even made a tunnel cover

Thanks all for the inspiration! Bountiful season to all!!!!

Regards,
D

They are looking great!

I'm having all kinds of fun seeing the dwarf/not dwarf differences in the seedlings. Do you think that particularly tall Cherokee Tiger Black seedling might not be dwarf? It seems like its easier to tell once they start growing their true leaves.

Then, too, sometimes, it's due to a bit of extra fertilizer or light or temp, etc.

No fertilizer here. Just saw UA post his CT Black doing the same thing. Which is odd since the Cherokee Tiger line normally has short stout dwarfs. The the row to either side are other CT lines the Black should look like those.
