I know a lot of people do it but I only remove the suckers if I am planning on cloning.

It is a controversial topic and some people never prune anything.

I do remove the suckers which would be the little sprouts starting in the joints where a branch comes off the stem. Several of them are visible in your pictures. Just pinch them out.

It keeps your plant from being quite so bushy, improves air circulation (which is important in humid climates), and hopefully focuses the plant a bit more on fruit production vs. more stems and leaves.
