Does the tomatoe plant have root structure that works for no till planting. I have done it for 2 years now and just have not had much luck(could be the weather). I plant my plants that I start myself when they are only6 to 8" tall. My soil is rich silt loam and very soft when I plant.
Thoughts?

if the soil is decent - not hardpan - it should work just fine.
since you're starting your own, tomato seedlings "getting leggy" never bothered me much - I would simply lay the extra stem in a trench - it'll root all along that extra stem - don't have any "measured data" but they produced a lot of fruit with all the "extra" root system.
