Container Cherry Tomatoes Taste Sour

Does anyone know why my container cherry tomatoes would taste sour, almost bitter? They seemed to take a long time to ripen, but we waited until they were red to pick them. Then, the taste was disappointing. Thanks!

How big of a container are they in? What type of soil? What are you feeding it?

What variety? Were they hard or a bit soft to the touch - red ripe?

I grow tomatoes in containers and I never have an issue with the flavor of the tomatoes.

Thanks for the responses. They're Husky Cherry Reds, and they're in a large pot (18" across the top). I used some general kind of organic fertilizer on them, and they're in regular potting soil (no additives). They were bright red and still firm when we picked them. Will watch for a couple more, but we're getting into our really hot summer season when most veggies just try to survive and wait for cooler temps. in the fall. Then, we'll see another crop, I hope.

Sounds like they could have been a bit softer to eat. I bit into one of Sungold's early last year - wasn't a bit happy about it. We have some that are pretty golden but a bit too firm to be at its best for eating.
