container tomato plant

unfortunately I left my tomato plant outside last nite-
it was in low '40's

at 10 am I went out to look at herbs and tomato plant.
it looked limp so I brought it inside.
is there anything I can do to save plant?
when shouldd iI return it to outside?

It doesn't love weather that cold, but should survive it. If it's not getting any colder than that, rather than back and forthing it, which destroys it's ability to adapt to the current conditions, I'd just put it (I assume since you could bring it in, that it's in a container), in a protected location, like against a south facing wall and leave it. If you don't have a good protected location, put a tomato cage over it and drape the cage in plastic (loose, you aren't trying to make a greenhouse or sealed enclosure that could heat up in the sun, just to provide a little protection.

We have "Red Flag" fire warnings up here. Is it possible that those same drying winds sucked the moisture from your container tomato faster than expected and it just needed water?

Just asking/guessing, I don't really know.
