Now, did you get that canner you were talking about last year? Start stocking up canning jars, lids, and other processing equipment, and don't forget to clear a big space in your pantry. You may need to build a second one exclusively for preserved produce from your garden. You are going to need it.

Apple it makes me smile as well. You remember last year was ugly for me. I did get that canner I even have some tomatoes from last year in the freezer not sure if I will use them or not they were not blanched. But that is for another thread.
davefromwestchester I have about 30 plants, I think 12 variety's. I have another garden on the other side of my yard that has nine plants in it. I have cages around as many as I had cages for the rest are a mix and match style of stakes and string. The cages (concrete reinforcing wire or CRW) are 5 foot cut at, I believe 12 squares for roughly a 24 inch width.
And as DDF stated I'm near St Louis in Mo.
soil The fruit setting is great I have a LOT of green toms out there. I have been picking for a 3-4 weeks now with cherry's a week before that. The only one not doing so well is Berkley Tie Dye, there is only a few fruit, maybe one on it. It didn't do squat last year either. I will not be bringing it back. Other than Black cherry I would say Black From Tula is in the lead as far as plant and fruit production. But everything else (except for the BTDye is loaded as well.
I have Black From Tula, Black Cherry, Brandywine Sudduth, Arkansas Traveler, Kelloggs Breakfast, Giant Syrian, 1884 Purple, Spudakee, Couer de Bouef, OSU Blue, Paul Robenson
