My Hardening Off Plan - What Do You Think?

Day 1 Outside half-day

Day 2 Outside all day

Day 3 Outside all day

Day 4 Outside all day and all night

Day 5 Plant!

I'm at day 4 right now. Does my plant sound good?

Oh yeah, I've got peppers I'm doing the same with as well.

Today's day 5, so this evening I'll probably be planting them out.

Strategy sounds about right for most situations. I prefer to take my time however and give them several more days. If you go to the garden on day five, perhaps have some kind of barrier in mind in case the wind picks up or a hard rain is expected. I've had the rain literally wash the green off of most leaves on fairly tender plants. Also, if the afternoon sun is particularly harsh, maybe place some barrier that relieves the plant from the harshest afternoon sunshine.

I wouldn't move nearly that quickly unless the outdoor conditions were particularly good - cloudy, cool with some kind of shade/protection in the open garden.

My day 1 would just be a couple of hours. Day 2 wouldn't be much different.

They have been completely out in the open for a couple of days & nights now. On about Day 12 with the tomatoes and still can't risk the open garden. Temperatures in the 30's predicted for the weekend and too many to cover  .

Thanks a lot for you input, guys.

I ended up putting them out on the fifth day.....which was several days ago.

They went through several hard rain storms, but still seem to be doing fine.
