Hello,
I'm a complete newbie. I bought an Early Girl plant from Lowes two weeks ago to give it a try in a container. It seems to be a pretty happy plant; it has a couple of buds starting. However, the upper leaves have brown spots on them. There aren't any visible pests or eggs (I checked the undersides of leaves and didn't see anything). Our weather has been pretty rainy lately; on Tuesday and Wednesday, we had some severe storms followed by bright, sunny conditions. Could it be sunburn?
This is what it looks like:

Any ideas what it is? What should I do to keep my plant happy and healthy?
Thanks!
Amy

Hey Amy,
It could be burn but it could also be a nutrient deficiency, specifically nitrogen, caused by all the rain. too much water can wash out nutrients in a container. next time it rains heavy, cover your tomato plant, bring it inside or under a patio. you can also pick up some all purpose fertilizer and try feeding it the next time YOU have to water.
