2011 Early Varieties update

This past Friday have transplanted all of the earlies from 2.5" pots to 6" pots (their last place before these go into 10gal and 18gal containers).

All are thick and healthy, growing even better than the last season. But one is rather "very early"...

Danko. Originally brought to US from somewhere in CIS. At only 4 weeks after germination, under 6500K grow lights, it already set the flower buds on all the seedlings.

Determinate, but ever-bearing red oxheart with wispy foliage. Here it is, buried as deep as the 6" pot allowed. Exactly 5 weeks after germination:

And our flower buds:

So if everything goes as planned, Mid May tomatoes may not be impossible

Congrats! They look great!
Especially compared to my little punies just potted up into 4" yesterday :P

Then there are my main crops that just sprouted a couple days ago

D your plants AND your pictures put me to shame. 5 weeks after germ last year my seedlings were like 6 inches tall LOL. But I also didn't have lights last year. I'm PICKING SOME UP WHEN I get paid.
 I'm planting my mater seeds tomorrow after work I swear.... as soon a I decide what to grow for sure. I really need the list down to 20.....

Dixana - lights and good potting mix (as well as up-potting) can and does have great effect on the growth. Once you get those light, you will see!

As for cutting down to 20, is that from your list of 36? Ha, good luck with that! If you do, you are stronger then me. Every time I make a list, I cant resist "just few more", and this year is no different. Wanted to do about 25... Well, now at 30, plus 4 dwarfs, 6 container varieties, one (4 plants) stabililzation (F4), and few growouts for possible crosses in search of the Green Heart... Good luck!

Imperial - white table surface, white background (actually my grow grow table):

Given this setup, if you meter your exposure for the plant, not entire scene, considering the huge difference between the white bg and the dark green foliage, background is blown out, so it appears as it does on that first photo.

Looking good D_V. I"m jealous and embarrassed. I just up-potted some this weekend myself but they are still small, some were even looking sickly but I'm hoping it was just the first leaves falling off and nothing more. If I don't work tomorrow the rest will be re-potted.

Do all your tomatoes go into pots? By the way, the Noir de Creme you sent me along with the other samples are doing great! Thanks so much!
