Using a Roma food strainer and sauce maker

I purchased this strainer and attempted to make sauce with it. I used Roma tomatoes. I ended up with tomato juice and little "meat". What did I do wrong? I planned on canning. Will the sauce thinken when processed? Thank you in advance!

Your strainer holes might be too small. If you cook the tomatoes first they turn to mush then after you run that all through the strainer everything including the seeds goes through except the skins. If you do not want seeds then you need to use a strainer small enough to remove seeds. You can put it all in a food processor or kitchen blender and grind up the seeds. You can grind up the skins too the more solid material you have the thicker the juice gets. Roma is naturally thicker juice than other tomatoes. If you want it to taste like tomato paste grind up the skins too.
