Elevating Roma tomatoes

I have 2 Roma tomato plants and they are growing great. This is my first time to plant this variety, and the person at the nursery told me I do not have to trellis them.

Now they are very large and they do carry their own weight well, but the bottom leaves are all on the ground. I have been inspecting the leaves daily to make sure mold did not set in.

After the rains of this last week I have started to notice brown spots on the leaves touching the ground. I immediately pluck them off, but I want to set up a system to keep them elevated.

I was thinking maybe wooden stakes, and twine? Then I thought with steady wind twine could saw branches right off. Am I just being paranoid or are there better alternatives?

Thanks in advance!
Daniel

Thanks I will try that tonight! What mulch would you recommend? something I can till into the soil after the season is over is preferred.

My Roma toms end up over 7ft tall!

One long stick and a few bits of wire hold mine up I.e.:

Thanks for the information , and the great pics SP8. I went and grabbed all the line, and stakes tonight for a long day of gardening tomorrow.

I have a whole batch of compost from last year that is about 90% done, and I will throw that under the tomatoes!
