German Johnson Tomatoes

what has been any of ya'lls experience with german johnson tomatoes?this is the first year I have planted one. are they too sweet to use in pasta sauce? Thanks, Julie

I haven't grown it but from what I could find it is like dozens of other pink beefsteak "eating" tomatoes. I use alot of these types to make sauce, and it is true that they do not have the harsh taste of storebought sauces. However, it is easy to appreciate the sweeter flavor of their sauces. If you want to mask/change it to taste like storebought just add a can of tomatoe paste to thicken the sauce, if not, use corn starch.

thanks for the info. that is a help to me. I make my own sauce, also. I do have to thicken it.
