My leaves are curling up...

I am a bit confused with whats happening to my tomato plants- the leaves all look fairly healthy, the are quite turgid; however, the stems are curling up a rather that extending out. What could this be? It is mainly the top leaves.

Have my plants not got enough light?
Am I giving them too much water?
Is this just what tomato plants do?

I am fairly new to gardening so any tips would be really appreciated :O)

I'm told it's too much water if the leaves look healthy otherwise - I had the same problem. According to the book I have, it doesn't affect the crop in any way. I let it dry out for two days and all seems better.

The other reason for leaf curl, if accompanied by purple veins, is a nutrient deficiency - potassium I think...

I believe that grey is correct about the potassium deficiency and the purple.

Best way to correct that is some liquid organic fertilizer.

Leaf curl in plants generally is a fungal infection but, what you have described does not sound like what is happening here. I would go with Grey's advice.
