Late Blight and Soil?

I had three tomato plants growing in large pots on my porch this summer. They were quite healthy and productive until late august when they all developed severe Late Blight. I chopped down the the sick plants, bagged and tossed them. Is the soil in my pots now ruined? I don't know enough about Blight to know if it leaves spores in the soil and root system. I'd prefer to keep the soil if it is still healthy but don't want a repeat of this years Blight.

Best Regards,

Marcel

You are OK, late blight spores cannot overwinter in cold areas. The organism must be in living tissue (I.e. potatoes) to survive the winter. Peices of roots in your potting soil shouldn't be a problem.
