black spots on very bottom of tomatoes

My tomatoes have black spots on the very bottom of the fruit. What causes that? Can I be watering too much or is there another cause like watering when it is too hot? The fruit itself is only about 2 inches across. There are no bugs inside when I break the fruit open.

Is the dark area soft? If so, it could it be blossom end rot. If I recall correctly, that is caused by a calcium deficiency. If you enter blossom end rot in the search box on the upper left of the page, you can read past discussions about it and how to treat it. :)

Is almost certainly blossom end rot. Spray the plant will milk and/or anything that will give it a calcium boost. Work a little peletized lime in the soil around the plant. And most importantly, give the plant a constant supply of moisture. Moving between extremes of dry and wet can cause the plant to not absorb calcium properly and contributes to the problem.

can you put the mixture of milk and water into the soil or will it hurt the plant.
