CLAY TILES AROUND TOMATOE PLANTS

we put clay tiles over our tomatoes plants when we put them out,would it hurt to leave them on our plants all year?

I live in texas and we use fake rock tiles (similar to 'clay') on top of paper or old brown box material as weed block. We leave it on all year. Send me a reply with your e-address and I'll send you a photo.
