I was under the impression that succulents were mainly grown using vegetative reproduction and not seeds, if you live near me, I can provide you with some succulents.

Well, I could be mistaken. (wouldn't be the first time) Ask around and see if there are seeds out there. Try your local garden clubs, and shops.

Actually most succulents have seeds. Most anything has seeds for that matter, they just don't always start well. But depending on the type of succulent, seeds can be a perfectly easy way to go. They are a little harder to find than your average marigold seed or the like, but with a little looking you should be able to find some, if not in your area then for sure off the internet.

I'm not actually sure what variety they are. The ones in the area have grown up to 25 feet (and may still be young), the 5-lobed leaves grow up to 4-6 inches across and look pretty similar to a sugar maple though the fruit definately doesnt, and they are cold hardy up to atleast -20 degrees F (else they wouldnt have survived the winters here or gotten to the size that they are). I took some pictures too.

There are some other varieties in the area too, one of them a lovely purple maple of which I used to know the variety, but they seem to have dropped their fruit before I got here.

That would be Acer giganteum otherwise known as the big leaf maple. I'd be interested in seeds, do you like heirloom tomatoes? I also have heirloom pumpkins (white pumpkin and a baby pumpkin) and I may have some lavetera (the annual variety).

You know I just remembered, you live in the USA don't you? Our border crossings don't allow seeds to cross. Hopefully somone else will trade with you.

Yeah they tend to be pretty picky about that and I'm not sure when the next time I will be able to plant a garden will be, which is too bad because I like pumpkins. It's likely to be quite a ways off though.

When I searched for Acer giganteum, not much came up, and the Big Leaf Maple is identified as Acer macrophyllum. Also, the leaves are not nearly as big as those which give the Big Leaf Maple its name, the fruit is at a much wider angle, and I didnt find much information of them being this far east.

 Ooops! Getting my greek and latin mixed up! Thanks for catching me on the femlow! Acer macrophyllum makes sense.

You know, we do have a member with the pseudonym of Acer, maybe that person might want to trade seeds with you.
