Some might, many won't, depends on the variety and how they were dried and preserved and how long they have been sitting on the store shelves, etc.

I don't really see the point of trying to grow them, since spices are expensive in the store and packets of seeds are cheap.

McCormick sells 11 oz of coriander seed for $12.24 coriander seed

eGardenSeed.com sells a packet of 250 coriander seeds for $2.19 https://www.eGardenSeed.com/Cilantro_Seeds_p/0130.htm

On a per ounce basis the grocery spice is less expensive. But it is thousands of seeds, none of which may germinate and if they do, who needs thousands of seeds? The seeds from the seed company will be fresh and will probably all germinate and 250 of them is way more than you need anyway.

hello

I agree that some will and some will not

I have had good success with some red pepper seeds from red pepper flake I bought
all but a few type germinated
and you get a surprise every time because different company's use different species of hot peppers and you end up with some interesting peppers

I had Pequin,Ancho Capilan, and a mystery pepper that looked much like an Anaheim chile but smaller and very mild

I also had some luck with dill from McCormick

it has much to do with how hot it was when they dried the herbs, not too hot generally they will sprout too hot and their probably dead

best thing I can tell you is give it a try, you really cant lose either way

hope this helps thanks your friend Joe :D
