Myrtle ground cover

I am looking to plant some Myrtle ground cover in my mulch bed (so less mulch I have to do)
There are hastas in the bed. Will they live happily with the Myrtle?
AC units are also in the bed. Will the Myrtle grow into the AC units and damage them?
