Stair landing - how to attach wood to boulder?
Good afternoon everyone! The Mayo's in Roan Mountain, TN. We have a sloped backyard that goes down to a creek and we have steps leading down to the creek. My husband is building a landing at the bottom of the stairs and plans to use pressure treated wood and attach part of it to a large boulder in the hill. He is not sure what type of fastener to use to attach them together. Any ideas?

I like dry wall screws if you make a mistake it is very easy to change plus they will never work their way out like nails. Buy 2 or 3 Philips screw driver bits for your electric drill. I always like to have 1 short screw driver bit and 1 that is 6" long. Make sure your screw driver bits fit the screw heads. Lowe's & Home Depot have drywall screws in many different lengths in 1 lb box and 5 lb box. I buy bulk screws as the hardware store price is cheaper plus I can buy as many as I want.

Attach to the boulder?
Is it granite, limestone ?
A hammer drill and cinch or some fastener like lag fasteners would work.
