Tom, what things do you consider brush not worth keeping in OR? I have been there a few times and everything looked so good everywhere that I can remember I wouldn't know what was considered a weed or just brush. We have a lot of introduced weeds and they are easy for me to spot here but I was just curious about your part of the country.

The areas had small trees that just blocked the view and made it so one could not walk through the area. Mostly they were alder, there are large trees there and this is what I did not cut. I dug out a number of stumps with the FEl.

The grass is growing at the first site it looks better green, I will photo when the rain stops but for now it is getting watered.

The grass is starting to come in now. I am thinking of getting some small boulders from a local quarry about 1' to 2' big and making boarders; I can get them for $30 a ton if I pick them up. I feel like getting a truck to deliver a bunch of it so I can use them all over the place making small walls. What do you think? It would be a lot less than buying the cement ones at a store and I think look better.

I am getting 12 tons of rocks delivered from the quarry that are 1 to 2 foot for building walls and boarders this week and at $25 per ton delivered. That is a lot of rock but oh the fun I will have making my yard nice.

I called a local supply place and they wanted $85 a ton and you pick it up, ya right!

It's looking nice. I am very envious of your locale. We are having the worst weather I have ever seen in my lifetime. The perinnials have already begun to die completely, and trees and shrubs are also on their way out. The next few years we are going to be removing A LOT of old and young trees around here. Over 100 again today and no real relief in sight. Grass literally looks like straw and I have not had to cut mine for 5 1/2 weeks now. What I wouldn't give for a trip up to Mt. Hood right now.

Last year was a hot year also and it was cool and wet here. To bad about all the trees, what is worse is they help pull carbon. We still have a lot of snow on Mt. Hood and it looks nice from here.

I got 12 tons of rocks and some were big but my tractor could pick them up fine. I was worried for a bit there. I put them around the yards close to the house, I still have a pile to play with.

I am working the walkway in front of our house, I dug up the old stuff and made a stone wall. I spread some more gravel. A friend gave me some yuccas and I planted them.

Your place is gorgeous and you have done a ton of work on it (no make that many tons, given all the rock hauling). You are right the new stuff is still a little raw. The look of the line of rock will get softened when there are a few plants draping/trailing over a few of the rocks.

But what a beautiful place to live!

Amazing work. These are the rocks you got earlier right? You are making the big rocks work very nicely. And I'm in love with the fairy sculpture -- did you make that yourself?

Your place is starting to look like a botanical garden.

I'm picturing these rocks quicky gather patina of lichen and moss in your climate. They will look spectacular. You may want to hasten the process on some of them with moss blended in milk... Or was that buttermilk? (I've come across the recipe in various gardening articles for years, but they actually sell the mixture in a 1/2 gallon milk carton now)

Yes I am still working on the rock pile I got. Things get moss plenty fast here, LOL.I got the fairy from a local artist at a garden show. Thanks for the good words

Hi Tom,
I love your place and the view. I appreciate all the effort you are putting.
I like how You arranged the terracing wall from the stones, and the wall around the road.
IMHO, if I had to put the stones, I will try to group them in a more asymmetrical manner , and make groups from them, so they can make a statement.
I also bury the bottom part of the stones a bit in the ground.
I hope I am making some sense.
I must have used 100 tons of rock in my yard...at one point my neighbour thought I am crazy.
There are lots of things you can make with stones.
