hostas....what the heck did I do? When can I correct it?

I realized awhile ago that I made a mistake when I planted my hostas. You see, I transplanted them from my old house to my new because they were so beautiful. In my haste to spruce up an entry way to the new house, I planted them not paying attention to how much sun they get a day. Knowing this now, I want to transplant them to another area where there is more shade and a place that is in need of dire beautification! I guess my question is, when can I safely transplant them without killing them? Last year when I moved here in July/Aug I transplanted them right away but they took so long to come back and they are not near what they were at the old place. :(

It's best to transplant them in late fall or early spring.

Moving them sometimes stresses them, and they take awhile to recover. :)

I would hate for you all down south to have to deal with a hurricane so I could transplant my hostas! I used to live in FL so I know what it's like....
