Can you help me identify these?

A friend gave me these two plants from her yard. Neither of us know what they are, can anyone help?

I've only had them a few months, but it looks like it could.

I looked up Nicotiana and it said the flowers are trumpet shaped, and the plant I have has flat flowers.

The first picture is probably garden phlox. The nicotiana flowers are similar, but morningstar is right the petal part is not as flat. The phlox has the very slender trumpet part of the flower, with flat petals. The leaves are also longer and narrower than the nicotiana.

I don't know about the second one. Post another picture when it blooms, it will be a lot easier to identify.

Yep garden or summer phlox. Many are prone to powdery mildew -- I suspect that's what going on withe lower leaves. So spray with 10% milk solution. Phlox likes even moisture and afternoon shade, I believe.

That second one I'm almost positive is a sedum. May even be the same one I have which is 'Autumn Joy' Thick heavy waxy leaves, right? This one likes well drained soil on the dry side. REALLY takes to that scorching Southwestern sun in my garden.
