Treated Pine sleepers - growing epiphytes, possible or not?

Hi

We have a lot of retaining walls made from treated Pine logs, and I'm thinking about prettying them up. Does the chemical treatment of the wood mean that epiphytes will not be able to grow on them? I am hoping to use Neoregelias and Tillandsias.

Some logs have gaps inbetween each other. I could alternatively plant something in there, but it raises the same question - could the chemicals, being so close, kill the plants?

Thanks :)

That shouldn't be a problem but it would be for vegetables because the roots could uptake the chemicals.

That a good question D... :?

The treatment commonly used are salts by nature and most epiphytes don't much like salts; it may well be an issue. I just don't know. Trialling is likely to get you an answer faster than any search... sorry to blank on you like that...
