wrought iron patio fence height

I have a flagstone patio that goes to the edge of a downhill. how high should the wrought iron fence along the edge be? I was thinking 3 or 3.5 ft.

It depends on how steep the hill is and if there will be children around. If steep and children I would consider 5' as it might be harder to climb over and have an accident. 3' would be good to protect a garden but if the drop-off is steep I myself would put something taller, but each to their own.
