I am planting periwinkle (a lot) for ground cover, and have killed weeds by up rooting them and also by spraying Ortho Weed Be Gone. The directions on the Ortho Weed Be Gone says that it doesn't kill Periwinkle.
In about a week, I am planting more periwinkle and then will use some type of spray fertilizer. Does anyone know if the Periwinkle will bloom and spread with the way I am planting them.

I used the Ortho Weed Be Gone on the area where periwinkle is to be planted. I would think that the directions on the Ortho Weed Be Gone are true and accurate, or else how could they be in business without people wanting their money back and suing the company. Instructions say that it doesn't kill Periwinkle or other ground cover, but will kill weeds. So I am hoping that in a week, I will be able to plant Periwinkle with using a fertilizer. Does anyone know if this is correct, what I plan to do? Well, if I don't get any answers, it will be a risk that I will just have to take. I would think it would be o.k. How could Ortho be such a big company if they didn't stand by their "clinical studies" on their products.

There are really only two kinds of selective weed killers -- the kind that are supposed to kill grass (monocots) but is not supposed to kill plants withe leaves (dicots), and the kind that are supposed to kill plants with leaves but are not supposed to kill grass. If it's not selective, then it's supposed to kill ALL plants.
The other differentiation is weed killers that kills existing plants (post-emergent or contact) and weed killers that prevent seeds (all seeds) from germinating (pre-emergent).

Periwinkle will survive if sprayed with WBG (Weed Be Gone) Max. They told me that the periwinkle would still grow and spread, even after poison is put on in that area. I was also told that I could plant more Periwinkle in about 3 weeks, which I will. I think Ortho is a good company and I believe what they say. How else could they be such a profitable business and stay in it as long as they have?
