Dealing with knapweed and prepping for wildflowers

Hello!
I’m new to this forum and I have a question about organic weed control methods, particularly for knapweed. My husband and I bought an acre of land in North Idaho. We love the land but we are not in love with all of the knapweed growing on it. The land is basically just a grassy (+ knapweed) field. In lieu of having a big lawn, we’d like to spread pollinator-friendly wildflowers. I know we need to try to get the space as weed-free as possible before spreading the seeds to give the flowers the best possible chance. I am wondering if any of you have some guidance for me on this? Two ideas we’ve encountered have been to rototill (I’m not very confident in this option). Second idea would be to lay down a silage tarp that would hopefully kill the weeds and give us a fresh start? Other ideas are appreciated! Thanks in advance.
