Garland as mulch?

I'm preparing to take down our pine Christmas garland, and thinking about recycling the needles as mulch for my small blueberry mound. I bought the garland at Home Depot, and wondering if it's likely that big box retailers like this would spray their garlands with some kind of unsavory chemicals to preserve the color or whatever. Does anyone have information or advice on this? Would the safest thing be just to put the garland out to the curb? Thank you!

If the garland doesn't have obvious colors (white, silver, gold, green?) or glitter, one other possible spray agent that I could think of, that might have been used to keep it "fresh" and last for a long time -- how is it looking? Really should be drying out and dropping needles by now I would think --- would be Wilt-Pruf which is very often recommended winter evergreen shrub protectant. I did a quick search and did find some how-to blogs and videos touting this product for crafting holiday decorations. Here's the msds, and also product description --

... it sounds benign enough once applied and if put outside now, it sounds like will bio-degrade by spring -- but that's not to say this would have been what was used (if any). Have you searched to see if there is any write-up about Home Depot garlands?
