How To Compost an Entire Acre Of Land

I'm brand new to this 1.5 acres.
The grass is pretty where there's irrigation. It's not native grass.
The rest of the grass I can't determine what it is.
From what I've read, the best way to get a healthy lawn is to mulch the grass when you mow. To re-seed on top of the healthy grass to make it full, thick and it will keep out weeds. And to compost the entire lawn.
I get that.
I haven't started my compost bin yet, so I'm far away from having enough compost to do the entire acre, or 3/4 of an acre.

How do I find compost that's inexpensive enough to do an entire acre?
Do I spread it by hand and then till it in?
Can I just dust it on top and let the rain handle the rest?
When is the best time to do this for a lawn?

Lots of questions and confusion...
Should I just start with a smaller piece of the land and see how it goes?

Side note: and I can post this elsewhere if it doesn't fit this topic...but...
If I have multiple types of grass (bermuda where there's irrigation) and who knows, elsewhere...
do I just plant bermuda seeds everywhere or go with a native grass in the "who knows" section

Sorry for being so scattered with my questions...I'm just confused and overwhelmed as to where to start...
Thanks!!
