swamp soil

Has anyone used the dark black dirt from a swamp? I digging a water hole in the swamp and was going to use the soil for the garden. My field is really rocky and sandy so I figured I would use the swamp soil.

Wad planning on adding it to the field where I'm putting the garden. there is about 2 foot of the black soil before it turns to sand. It's more marshy I guess has cat tails and grass growing it's just a wet land really. Wanted to make a pond out of it to use the water to irrigate with
