Is This Good Mulch I Scavenged?

I was prompted in a post to do some studying on mulching and decided it was the best thing to do.

Instead of buying it or attempting to make it I decided to scour my property.
I figured it was just chopped up leaves and clippings so there must be some around.

Here is what I found..

Some of the bottom stuff is really closer to compost.

Does this seem like it's ok to mulch with?

It's a start. Not much material. Work it into your soil. I use compost as a soil amender rather than a mulch. You obviously have leaves. When they fall mulch them and start a pile or bin. Bag the excess for year round browns. Add grass clippings and kitchen scraps for greens. Turn. Use your lovely compost to amend your garden or landscape beds. Once you start composting you will get hooked.

So this is more like compost?
I'll go ahead and work this in then.

I have a forest full of leaves.
I need to get a vacuum/mulch-er and start a pile.

In the meantime I guess I'll have to scare up some actual mulch.

Thanks!

I just ordered a vacuum/mulch-er.
Now I'll build some sort of containment for it.
