Is Fish Emulsion Useful for Peppers & Tomatoes?

I have a question about the use of fish emulsion as fertilizer.

Many people use fish emulsion to fertilize peppers and tomatoes (and many other vegetables)
But I often read tomatoes and peppers don't need much extra nitrogen...and fish emulsion is mostly nitrogen.
What's that about?

Fish emulsion is used for the seedlings as it is a light nitrogen fertilizer that helps the little guys grow during the early stages of growth (the leafy stage).

You are correct that those plants are fruiting crops and need more that nitrogen to actually fruit. So if a fertilizer is used later in the growth cycle, a more broad based product would be used to provide the correct nutrients for the plant to fruit.

Most of the gardeners on this forum, use their own compost to side dress the plants once they are in the garden to provide them a balanced and nutricious "fertilizer" to assist in their growth and fruiting.

Hope this simple explanation was helpful :)
