Turnips ?

I'm volunteering on a farm that has a row
Of turnips that have been in the ground for two months.
Most of the mature turnips have been harvested but
There is a large section that seem bunched together with
Little roots . I'd like to thin the remaining section out to see
If these would get the root to maturity or is it too late for that. Thanks

In my experience it is better to thin turnips, beets, carrots, and radishes when they are small to avoid that problem. I have tried to keep them longer but they never grew to full size once their siblings had matured.

Thin them. Use the thinnings as greens. Can't say if the remaining will then make a good root, but for sure they will stand a better chance.
