Coconut Coir mulch causes yellow dried up leaves?

so, the title says it all really. I added some coconut coir mulch to my tomato bed a few weeks ago, also a 1/4 inch soaker hose. now it seems a lot of leaves are going yellow or drying up completely. The soil under the mulch is always moist, I have read about some mulches using all the nitrogen, could this be the problem? I've been digging used coffee grounds into the soil a bit too.

Mulch that is just sitting on top of the soil shouldn't take any nitrogen.

I would have thought possibly the coir got dried out and hardened up, at which point it can be difficult to wet again, and wasn't letting water through. But you said soil underneath is moist, so that isn't the problem. How big and old are your tomato plants? It is natural as the tomato grows, the oldest leaves at the bottom age, dry up and die. But that should only be a couple at a time.

Other wise are there any other symptoms? Curling, wilting, brown spots ?

I've also left space around each plant, there is some catfacing and a bit of BER (by the way, is it ok to eat the fruit if the ber is cut out?), and all of my tom plants have some curled leafs.

This is in another bed, but same problem.
