Been crazy busy working on my garden lately so I thought I'd show it to Ya'll!
Oh and sorry if the pictures are a little dark its been raining here and it was still cloudy when I took them.

Nice looking beds and plants. That is some fence going on round there, just what I need I had to look for your fury buddy America,(he/she) really blended in.

nice setup! did you plant all from seed?

Thanks! Yeah the fence works great! Its sturdy and doesn't rust. ahaa yeah it is kina hard to see America unlike London Who oh so loves to trample my pepper plants as you can see in the other pic. I'm going to have to put some round tomato cages around them to keep them safe. :/

My Beans, cucumbers, lettuce, Tigger melon, and 3 tomato plants and 3 bell peppers are from seed. the three tomatos and peppers were the only ones to survive an unexpected frost. So I had to buy new plants to replace the ones I lost. I had a ton more tomato's and peppers but it was too late to plant new ones from seed by then.

Bummer about the lost plants. But everything looks great!

America and London look like they are supervising.
A: "Hm, Hm.... Pretty good job planting these."
L: "Yep, the peppers are spaced correctly.... That one might be off by a 1/2"...."

oooo sorry to hear that. ive heard in LA people don't mess around when it comes to theyre beans and rice. so I'm sorry to hear you lost your plants. ive just started my first garden this spring and I still have my veggies growing inside. May 10th or so is a safe time to transplant outside here in indiana. Good luck this season and keep us posted!

but you're the only other person I've seen with the spiral stakes - doncha' luv' em?

I cobbled up some "stretchers" where I could brace the tops against each other. had to go find the pix... since reduced the length of the "arm" about 50% of shown - which is 18" (1/2 a 36" dowel) I use the stretchers to make the stakes into a teepee which supports the weight of the plants better.

haha thanks. Yeah my dogs do a pretty good job protecting my garden from vermin like possums, rats, large snakes, and squirrels. It too bad they don't go after the birds. (they've learned they cant catch them.) So On the bright side I don't have to worry about animal pests as much as others seem to have too.

Yep so very true. We love everything spicy hot and tasty! The lack of taste got to me so much when I lived up north for awhile!
Thanks but we live and learn. Next time I'm gonna wait another week before planting. :/ I'll be sure to post tons of pictures!

Yes! I oh so much love them! You don't have to tie them to the stakes and they naturally grow up them without falling. And that's what I love about them.

Yours looks really nice and I love the idea because mine when they got really big and taller then the stakes they started to fall and bend. I think I might try that!

Seedling pictures! and no my soil normally doesn't look like this; the red/brown powder you see everywhere is cinnamon. I heard that it can chase ants out of a bed. (I've got a big ant hill in mine.) Trying not to use poison but if this doesn't work I may have too.
Its so annoying not being able too weed my garden. But I may have gone overboard with the powder. I kinda used a whole 16 oz container. oops.

Looks great Royiah! Love the beds. Sorry about the frost, but you have plenty of time!

Hope this is not too late -- be careful because the cinnamon powder can burn the plants. Keep it off the foliage.

Another month here before I can sow melons and beans, but I have to catch up on planting the rest of the potatoes and start sowing corn.

where did you find those stakes? I want some!!!

I got them from Lowes and Wal-Mart. You should be able to find them in the gardening section by the wood and green plastic stakes.

haha seriously a great looking set up!! Any guess as to how long it took you to set up all of your beds? Any suggestions for soil amendments? Also what is your climate like?

Depends on the bed. The first two on the right I had help with so I'm not sure. But I tend to set them up in steps. Actually I don't really pay attention to how long it takes mostly just trying to get it done. I want to set up four more but hauling 5yards or more soil in my dads itty bitty car probably isn't a good idea.

Its very hot and humid here during the summer and I don't really get much of a winter. But I love the heat so it perfect for me!

As for soil I've only been growing for 2 years and have used a bagged gardening compost manure that has sand, compost and what not already mixed in. The only thing I've ever added were fall leaves during the fall and winter By time spring was here all of it was composted in my beds. I did add peat moss at one point but found it unnecessary with my well draining soil.
