cucumbers not flowering well?

I just found many cabbage worms on my Brussels sprouts and picked them all off. Very sad! While I was out there I noticed that my cukes do not seem that happy.

I definitely have a few male flowers on one plant but no female. And no flowers on my other two. They were planted about 6 weeks ago using seeds from a packet that I used last year ( and saved in the fridge). Any thoughts?

it has been hot here (hasn't it been hot everywhere?) in new york, but I'm not sure that's the problem...I've been watering well.

Here are some photos for reference.

Just relax and have some patience. 6 weeks from seed is not very long. They look fine, except the smallest one is a bit wilty, probably from the heat. You do have to water a LOT, in the weather we've been having. I've been watering deeply every other day.

It is typical for them to produce only male flowers at first.

thanks!

I keep very careful notes of my gardening each year so I can reference back and the cukes definitely were in much sooner last year and the year before. so I was worried.

but I'll try to be patient!

oh, I forgot to mention that something ate my cucumber seedlings where the third plant is, so it's younger than the others! I see the wilting...I'll go water now!
