Hello All,

Planted some Okra for the first time and was wondering about spacing and thinning I have found various opinions on the matter and was looking for some advice preferably from some organic growers that have actually grown the stuff. Here is a photo of what is going on in my box. The Box is about 6x6 and most of the plants are about 8 inches apart and the rows are 14 inches apart.
(the board is what I stand on to weed)

I think maybe your row spacing is a little crowded. I plant okra with plant spacing between 9 and 12 inches and 3 feet spacing between rows. 14 inches between rows is very crowded. The 8 inch spacing between plants will more than likely be fine.

Is that 4 rows of Okra I see?
Personally, I would remove the second and fourth rows entirely, and then thin out every other plant in the 2 rows you have left. Otherwise, I think that bed will be very over-crowded... Okra plants get big!

You did good.

I plant one 20 ft row of okra, plants are about 8" to 10" apart.
