Will supermarket red lentils grow?

I've decided to focus on peas and pea-related vegetables this Winter. I have some dry red lentils from the supermarket. Will they grow if I plant them?

the split ones sure won't work...worth a try, in general.

You might try putting a few on a damp paper towel and enclosing them in a plastic bag. If they sprout, they are viable and most likely will grow in your garden.
Great idea! I'll try it.

Soaking in water for a few hours to overnight first helps to speed the process.

Let us know. I grew azuki beans from store-bought organic beans two years ago, then saved seed beans and grew more last year.
