I'm growing muskmelons for the first time - 3 plants in a hill. They have taken over a huge trellis and are quickly taking over my walkway. I wasn't expecting much fruit, b/c all but two of the fruits had aborted - Until now! Today during inspection, I found no less than a dozen viable fruits. All are still egg size or smaller. My quesiton - Should I cull some of these fruits so that the plant puts more energy (sugar) into the remaining fruits? I've heard this before, but the plants are so vigorous and healthy, I have a hard time believing they can't afford to grow all the fruits.
Thanks everyone.
