Weed killing experiment!

Hey everyone, I'm doing a little experiment killing weeds. I've seen some videos where they use this giant steamer to kill weeds. So I figured why not try one of those hand held steamers!?!

Started 'steaming' this morning.

I made a makeshift 'steam cup' to keep all the steam in a concentrated area with a funnel!

I'll let you all know how it goes!!

I have seen people use torches too. So in theory steam should work.

The steam really seemed to work well. It worked even better when I sprayed a bit of household vinegar on the weed after I steamed it. The weather when I was doing this was not hot, in fact it was pretty overcast. so I think I got good results.

I also got a little torch and 'cooked' some weeds that were not next to flammable things such as buildings lol.

right now I'm working on sheet mulching the entire backyard. I would like it someday to be almost ALL garden. no grass, just mulch, raised beds & lots of food!!

I'll post pics of the steamed weeds in a bit.

My dad used to have a back pack type canister flame thrower and would walk around the house burning weeds in the crushed rocks and on the hillside. The weeds didn't seem to care as they would just pop right back up a few days later. I think my dad got more joy out of playing flame thrower guy!
