Cutting Down the Christmas Tree

Okay, don't laugh at me (too much). But out real Christmas tree has been leaning against out enclosed back porch since...well Christmas. I have my fil's axe and am ready to chop it up to use in the garden.

The question I have, is what would be the best use for the matter. Turn it into compost? Use it to build the garden bed? Prepare as mulch to reduce weeds?

What would you recommend?

To be a little more specific, I am preparing a vegetable and fruit garden for the season.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Got a match? I never heard of anyone composting the family Christmas tree.

They are good for attracting fish off the end of the dock.

I am laughing though.
