I came across this idea while putting up our new greenhouse where I wanted to grow tomatoes (we were living at 9,000 ft in the Colorado Rockies at the time).
I had some 2-by-12s hanging around that were perfect, except they were spruce, and would rot. So I built the frames, raised them up on pavers, then draped poly down the inside walls, overlapping the ground a bit on the inside, and fastened on the top edges with wood lath and panhead screws, topped off with a length of old hose cut lengthwise to snap in place and make life easier on my butt.
Because the wood didn't come in contact with the soil, it didn't rot, and the poly was hidden from sunlight and also won't degrade.
I've got a photo, if I can figure out how to post it.
